Emergency calling

Last updated: 8 October 2026

KiwiPhone is operated by Rebase Ventures Limited. Emergency calling in the UK, Canada and New Zealand uses Telnyx with your registered business address. Check Emergency calling on the Phone screen: it must show that emergency calling is ready. Earlier app builds cannot place these calls. In an emergency, use your iPhone’s normal calling service and dial the emergency number for the country you are in.

United Kingdom

Once setup is complete, you can call 999 or 112 through KiwiPhone without Pro. We register the business address you supplied during onboarding. Tell the operator where you are now and give your callback number.

Canada

Once setup is complete and you have accepted the emergency calling notice, you can call 911 through KiwiPhone without Pro. VoIP 911 can work differently from traditional telephone service. Your registered location is your business address. Give the operator your current location and callback number, and follow their instructions. Stay on the line until they tell you to disconnect.

Keep your address up to date

Open Emergency calling on the Phone screen to check or update your business address. A changed address needs carrier activation before you can use it. Calls need a working internet connection and can fail during a power or internet outage. Keep your iPhone’s normal calling service available.

New Zealand

Once setup is complete and you have accepted the emergency calling notice, you can call 111 through KiwiPhone without Pro. We register your business address with Telnyx. Tell the operator your current location and callback number.

Using the app when you travel

The country of your business number stays the same when you travel. Use the local emergency number through your iPhone’s normal calling service. A Wi-Fi connection alone does not guarantee that your phone can reach emergency services.
